The pack (or brick) format is the original instant noodle form factor, invented by Momofuku Ando in 1958. A block of pre-cooked, dehydrated noodles is sealed in a plastic wrapper with one or more seasoning sachets. The consumer boils water in a pot, cooks the noodles for 2–4 minutes, and adds the seasoning.
Packs offer the best noodle quality of any instant format because the noodles are cooked in an open pot with room to move and hydrate evenly. They also tend to be the most economical format on a per-serving basis.
