Germany is a moderately sized European instant-noodle market that has grown rapidly since the mid-2010s alongside broader interest in Asian cuisine. Maggi (owned by Nestlé, with roots in nearby Switzerland) is the legacy local brand and dominates the European supermarket presence. Asia Gold, Yum Yum, and various supermarket private labels occupy the everyday tier.
Nissin's German market entry has focused on adapted products: Cup Noodles Currywurst and Bratwurst variants are purpose-built for German palates, and both are among the more successful examples of Japanese instant-noodle localisation anywhere in the West. Nongshim, Samyang, and Mama have steadily expanded shelf presence in Asian-specialty chains like Asia Foodland and Vinh Loi.
German instant-noodle consumption remains well below Asian per-capita levels, but the segment has been one of the fastest-growing categories in German grocery since roughly 2018, driven by student and young-professional demand for Korean and Japanese imports.
