Mamee

Mamee is a Malaysian snack and instant-noodle brand founded in 1971 by Datuk Pang Chin Hin in Malacca. The initial instant-noodle product, launched under the name "Lucky", saw only limited success. The brand's transformation came when Pang Chin Hin and his son Tee Chew observed farm workers snacking on uncooked noodles straight from the pack with the seasoning sprinkled on — and relaunched the product three years later as Mamee Monster, a crunchy seasoned-noodle snack explicitly built around that eating format.

Mamee Monster became the iconic Malaysian childhood snack of the 1970s-80s and remains the brand's most recognisable product. The corporate entity — Mamee-Double Decker (M) Sdn. Bhd. — incorporated in 1991 and listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange in 1992 (delisted 2012). The company branched across instant noodles, dairy, confectionery, bottled water, and beverages, and sponsored Manchester United from 2011 to 2014.

In the instant-noodle category proper, the Mamee Chef line — particularly Mi Goreng Perisa Rendang Legenda — has been a repeat entrant on The Ramen Rater's annual global and Malaysian top-ten lists, placing Mamee alongside MyKuali as one of the international enthusiast community's Malaysian favourites. Distribution reaches roughly 100 countries, with particular strength across Southeast Asia and Australia.
